Right-wing activist Laura Loomer says a visit to war-affected areas of Ukraine, including a meeting with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, has shifted her views on the conflict and prompted her to urge fellow conservatives to question the information they consume online.
Loomer travelled across Ukraine this week, touring regions hit hardest by the war and holding direct talks with President Zelenskyy. Speaking afterward, she said the experience challenged many of the views she previously held about the conflict.
She went further, urging American conservatives to reassess the narratives they encounter online instead of accepting them uncritically, arguing that firsthand exposure to the war’s realities had reshaped her own thinking in ways she did not expect.
The remarks mark a striking reversal from Loomer’s earlier stance, when she was known for criticizing Ukraine and echoing pro-Russian talking points. During the same interview, she raised concerns about what she called the growing influence of Russian disinformation, stressing that facts about the war need to be examined independently rather than taken at face value from partisan sources.
According to the AP News, Ukrainian officials welcomed Loomer’s visit, viewing it as a chance to influence conservative opinion in the United States. Loomer denied receiving any payment from Ukraine for the trip.
