A married couple have died after a Tesla Semi truck crashed into two vehicles stopped at a traffic light in Dayton, Nevada, in what authorities believe is the first fatal crash involving the electric heavy-duty truck. According to the Daily Mail, victims Sergio and Jennifer Villanueva were pronounced dead at the scene, while another motorist suffered life-threatening injuries.
Investigators with the Nevada State Police Highway Patrol said preliminary evidence suggests the driver may have fallen asleep before the collision on U.S. Highway 50, though the cause remains under investigation. Authorities have not released the driver’s identity or announced charges, adding that the National Transportation Safety Board is expected to assist in determining the cause.
