Meta has launched a new line of AI-powered smart glasses starting at $299, aiming to make wearable AI more affordable and accessible.
Meta is doubling down on wearable technology with the launch of its first in-house designed AI smart glasses, offering a cheaper alternative to its popular Ray-Ban models.
The new Meta Glasses start at $299, undercutting the latest Ray-Ban smart glasses, which begin at $379. The move is part of Meta’s broader strategy to get AI products into more hands as competition intensifies in the race for consumer AI dominance.
The glasses can play music, translate languages, answer questions about a user’s surroundings, and provide personalized recommendations using Meta’s latest Muse Spark AI model. They come in three styles, including a special edition designed by Kylie Jenner.
Meta says affordability is key to expanding adoption, especially as rivals such as Google, Samsung and OpenAI prepare their own AI-powered wearable devices.
According to CNN, Meta currently dominates the smart glasses market and hopes its latest product will help turn AI glasses into a mainstream technology.
