Michigan Sheriff identifies father as gunman in family murder-suicide

Investigators have ruled the deaths of eight family members in a Grand Haven Township house fire a murder-suicide carried out by Kristopher Karolkiewicz.

Authorities say Kristopher Karolkiewicz fatally shot his wife, Amanda, and their six children, aged five to 15, before killing himself and setting the family home on fire, the Daily Mail reported, citing local officials.

Firefighters responding to reports of smoke on Friday found the victims inside the burning home. Autopsies confirmed all eight died from gunshot wounds, and investigators determined several fires had been deliberately set before crews arrived.

Authorities said evidence supports that Karolkiewicz acted alone, with no other suspects sought. The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office and other agencies continue investigating, describing it as an isolated case.
