NASA unveils Artemis III crew that will embark on the next big step on its journey back to the moon

NASA has announced the four astronauts selected for Artemis III, the next major mission in its long-term effort to return humans to the Moon. The crew includes commander Randy Bresnik, pilot Luca Parmitano, and mission specialists Andre Douglas and Frank Rubio.

According to CNN, Artemis III is scheduled for launch in 2027 and will focus on testing critical rendezvous and docking operations between NASA’s Orion spacecraft and commercial lunar landers being developed by SpaceX and Blue Origin.

The mission will validate systems needed for future lunar surface missions and represents a key step toward NASA’s broader goal of establishing a sustained human presence on the Moon before future missions to Mars.
