Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed to end American financial and military support for Israel, according to the Daily Mail.
Speaking in a CBS News interview with anchor Major Garrett, Netanyahu said: “I want to draw down to zero the American financial support, the financial component of the military cooperation that we have,” adding that “it’s time that we weaned ourselves from the remaining military support.”
He said the drawdown should begin immediately, phasing out over the next decade.
His remarks come as Iran rejected Trump’s peace proposal, with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian warning: “We will never bow our heads before the enemy, and if talk of dialogue or negotiation arises, it does not mean surrender or retreat.”
With the Strait of Hormuz standoff unresolved, Brent crude futures have surged to around $104 a barrel.
