Norway’s royal family is rocked by scandal. Marius Borg Høiby, 29, son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit, was handed a four-year prison sentence on Monday after being convicted of raping two women. He was acquitted of two other rape charges.
The Associated Press reports that Høiby, who watched the verdict via video link from prison due to health reasons, was also convicted of assault and domestic abuse. Prosecutors had sought nearly eight years behind bars. His lawyers say he will appeal the rape and abuse convictions and seek temporary release. Høiby had denied the rape allegations but admitted to several lesser offences.
