The Pima County Sheriff’s Department has released two ransom notes claiming Savannah Guthrie’s missing mother, Nancy Guthrie, died shortly after being abducted in January.
Kidnappers’ Notes Claim Savannah Guthrie’s Mother Died Of Heart Issue
Six months after Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department has released two ransom notes allegedly written by her kidnappers, hoping someone recognises the writer’s language patterns, Rolling Stone reports.
The first, sent February 2, demanded $4 million in Bitcoin, rising to $6 million if deadlines passed. The second, sent February 6, claimed Guthrie “perished shortly after she was taken,” believed to be “heart related,” and that she is “buried in nature now.”
Authorities previously said Guthrie needed daily medication to survive. The FBI has released images of a masked assailant approaching her home. A California man pleaded guilty in July to sending a fake ransom note, while another man briefly detained in the case, Carlos Palazuelos, is now suing the sheriff’s department for $2.5 million, alleging false arrest.
