A 19-year-old man fatally shot his wife and himself at an Alabama hospital moments after the birth of their child, prompting a lockdown and security review.
A 19-year-old man fatally shot his 24-year-old wife before turning the gun on himself inside Baptist Health Brookwood Hospital in Alabama shortly after the couple welcomed their first child Sunday night. Police said Kynath Terry Jr. killed Precious Johnson around 9:30 p.m. Authorities described the case as “an apparent murder-suicide and is domestic in nature.”
The hospital was placed on lockdown “out of an abundance of caution” before officials determined there was “no active threat to patients, team members or the public.” Terry’s mother said the couple had marital issues but nothing suggesting violence. Danne Howard called the attack “an isolated incident,” adding the facility would implement “lessons learned” from a mandated after-action report.
