Trump has demanded the firing of a GOP staffer he blames for making Senator Mitch McConnell appear confused during a Senate hearing.
Donald Trump has called for the dismissal of a Republican staffer he accused of making Mitch McConnell appear confused during a Senate hearing. According to Sahara Reporters, the incident occurred when the aide approached McConnell during a Senate Appropriations subcommittee session to prompt additional questions.
“The guy that came up to Mitch McConnell… made Mitch look foolish and completely out of it, should be immediately fired!” Trump wrote.
He added, “This was a case where Mitch wasn’t confused… They wanted to go home.”
Trump identified the aide as Robert Karem, accusing him of “grandstanding” and political bias.
The episode has renewed attention on McConnell’s recent public stumbles, though Trump insisted the senator was not confused during the exchange.
