Trump endorses Ken Paxton over incumbent John Cornyn in Texas Senate primary runoff

President Trump has endorsed Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton over incumbent Senator John Cornyn in a highly contentious and historically expensive Republican U.S. Senate runoff.

Former President Trump has upended the Texas Republican U.S. Senate runoff by endorsing Attorney General Ken Paxton over incumbent Senator John Cornyn.

According to NPR, the endorsement aims to solidify the race a week before voting ends. Trump praised the attorney general on social media, writing, “Ken Paxton has gone through a lot, in many cases, very unfairly, but he is a Fighter, and knows how to WIN.” He added, “Our Country needs Fighters, and also Loyalty to the Cause of Greatness.”

Cornyn had previously downplayed any intervention, stating, “I think that ship has probably sailed.” Undeterred by the news, Cornyn declared, “We’re not slowing down.” However, Trump’s late move carries risk. Independent voter Toni Farrell expressed deep reservations about the attorney general’s scandals, stating, “Ken Paxton – He’s not somebody that I believe in his character. I do not.”
