US President Donald Trump has announced plans to launch a Section 301 trade investigation into the European Union, warning of a possible new tariff over fines imposed on major American technology firms.

According to the BBC, Trump accused the EU of unfairly targeting Google, Apple, Meta and Amazon, insisting the penalties should be reversed. The move follows the European Commission’s €890 million fine against Google for anti-competitive practices.
Trump said the EU would pay a “very big price,” arguing the bloc was “robbing American companies” and taxpayers. Google said it had worked to comply with the EU’s Digital Markets Act while expressing concerns over recent regulatory decisions.
Trump also claimed Apple, Meta and Amazon had faced multi-billion-dollar EU penalties. The European Commission and the companies were contacted for comment.
