President Donald Trump has warned at the NATO summit in Turkey that Iran may assassinate him, saying he is on “every single one of their lists.”
Trump Tells World Leaders Iran Is Plotting to Kill Him as Tehran Places Death Bounty
Speaking in Ankara on Wednesday, Trump told world leaders that Iran was targeting him as the United States’ top leader, the Daily Mail reports.
“I’m on every single one of their lists, and so far I guess I’ve been a little bit lucky, but that maybe doesn’t last very long, because that’s the way it goes,” he said.
At a subsequent press conference alongside Secretary of State Marco Rubio and cabinet officials, Trump added, “I may be gone too because I’m their number one target. It’s out all over the place. I’m the number one, because they’re scum.”
The remarks came as hardline Iranian lawmakers openly called for missiles to be fired at Trump’s location during the summit. At Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s funeral on Monday, pro-regime demonstrators carried posters featuring crosshairs over Trump’s face bearing the warning “Sooner or later, your heads will roll,” while chants of “Death to America” rang out across Tehran.
Trump’s comments come after he declared his ceasefire with Iran “over” and ordered fresh strikes following Iranian attacks on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz. His remarks also fall just days before the second anniversary of the Butler, Pennsylvania, assassination attempt that nearly killed him in July 2024.
