Two US service members were killed and one is missing in action after Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks in Jordan, marking the first American military deaths in the Iran war since March.
Two US Troops Killed, One Missing in Iran-Linked Strikes
US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced the casualties Saturday, saying the troops died on July 17 while defending against the attacks alongside partner forces, according to CNN. Four additional service members were medically evacuated to hospitals in Jordan but have since been discharged, while others sustained minor injuries and returned to duty.
CENTCOM said it will withhold the identities of the fallen soldiers until 24 hours after their next of kin are notified. The Pentagon has not yet released further details on the missing service member’s status. This is a developing story.
