Vice President JD Vance is set to lose one of his closest aides, with Chief of Staff Jacob Reses planning to leave the Trump administration at the end of the summer.
According to NBC News, Reses informed Vance of his decision months ago after learning that his wife was expecting their first child. The longtime adviser has been by Vance’s side since his successful 2022 Senate campaign in Ohio and played a key role throughout his rise to the vice presidency.
Vance praised Reses as a loyal friend and trusted adviser, saying he could not imagine his public service journey without him. Senior Trump administration officials, including White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, also hailed Reses’ leadership and influence.
His next move has not yet been announced.
