Ex-NYC Mayor Eric Adams’ top adviser arrested in corruption probe

Frank Carone, former chief of staff to ex-Mayor Eric Adams, has been arrested by federal agents in an alleged bribery scheme, as a separate corruption probe also saw NYPD and FBI agents raid current and former police officials.

New York’s corruption saga just got bigger. Frank Carone, former top adviser to ex-Mayor Eric Adams, was arrested Wednesday after federal agents searched his Manhattan home, CNN reports.

The arrest is tied to an alleged bribery scheme, though prosecutors have stayed quiet. In a separate probe, NYPD and federal agents also raided current and former police officials over alleged bribery and misconduct.

Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch confirmed Internal Affairs, the FBI and the US Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York executed search warrants the same day.

Adams’ spokesperson defended Carone, citing decades of public service, and stressed the matter remains ongoing.
