Lawsuit seeks to stop UFC event on White House south lawn

A federal lawsuit is seeking to block a planned UFC event on the White House South Lawn, arguing that the venue is being used improperly for a private sporting spectacle.

A high-profile UFC fight card planned for the White House South Lawn is now facing a major legal challenge just days before the event is scheduled to take place.

As NBC News reports, a federal lawsuit has been filed seeking to stop the mixed martial arts showcase, arguing that the use of White House grounds for the event violates federal rules and raises concerns about the use of public property. The lawsuit targets the planned “UFC Freedom 250” event, which is tied to celebrations marking America’s 250th anniversary and coincides with President Donald Trump’s 80th birthday.

The plaintiffs are asking a federal judge to halt both the event and related construction activities on the South Lawn. Critics claim the event represents an inappropriate use of federal property, while supporters argue it is part of a broader national celebration and comparable to other public events previously hosted on government grounds.

The White House has reportedly dismissed the lawsuit as baseless and politically motivated, insisting that the event complies with applicable rules. Meanwhile, preparations for the fight night continue as organizers await the court’s decision.

For now, the fate of one of the most unusual sporting events in recent US history rests in the hands of a federal judge.
