The US and Iran have agreed a memorandum of understanding to end their war and reopen the Strait of Hormuz, with a formal signing set for Geneva on Friday but Israel is already pushing back.
It’s a deal. Just don’t tell Israel. Fox News reports that Washington and Tehran have finalized a memorandum of understanding to end months of war, with Iran’s Supreme National Security Council confirming all military operations across multiple fronts including Lebanon will cease “immediately and permanently,” and the US naval blockade on Iran lifted with immediate effect.
Vice President JD Vance declared the agreement will “change the Middle East” if Iran actually complies. Big caveat there.
Not everyone’s celebrating. Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz made clear that IDF forces will not be withdrawing from Lebanon despite the deal, warning Iran the military would respond “with full force” to any attack.
Meanwhile, Tehran is spinning this hard. Iran’s state-controlled media is framing the MOU as a triumph, with state TV boasting that the “US is forced to sign agreement to end the war.” The formal signing in Geneva on Friday can’t come soon enough.
