Anti-regime Iranians are furious at the US-Iran peace deal, warning that leaving the Islamic Republic intact emboldens the mullahs and betrays thousands killed in protests.
Iranian dissidents and activists say Trump’s peace deal with Tehran has left them angry and betrayed.
The New York Post reports that many who risked — and lost — their lives opposing the regime feel the agreement hands hardliners a lifeline just when the Islamic Republic was on the ropes.
“Forty-five thousand dead in two days. It can’t be for nothing. You’re going to let them rebuild?” said 34-year-old Nima Azar, among protesters outside Iran’s World Cup match in Los Angeles.
Experts warn the regime could emerge from its biggest test in decades looking resilient and unbreakable — a dangerous signal to its own people. Frustration cuts both ways, though; Iranian hardliners are equally furious, with one parliament member warning the deal would make Iran “effectively a colony of the United States.”
