Mother who drowned her baby daughter and then blamed it on COVID, found not guilty by reason of insanity.
43-year-old Precious Bland said she drowned her baby in a bathtub due to a “psychotic episode” caused by COVID-19.
Bland accused COVID of causing her to “baptize” her family members, allegedly telling them that “Jesus Christ is coming and COVID is going to kill us all.”
After drowning her 15-month-old in the bathtub, her husband tried intervening. Bland then stabbed him multiple times before stabbing their 16-year-old daughter.
The husband and 16-year-old daughter were treated at the hospital.
Judge Miguel de la O ultimately ruled that Bland did “not understand the nature” of her actions, finding her not guilty by reason of insanity.
