A German palliative care doctor has been sentenced to prison after confessing to murdering 15 patients between 2021 and 2024, claiming he did it to spare them “suffering and infirmity.”

A doctor’s confession has chilled a Berlin courtroom — he says he killed to be kind.
According to a report by Peoples Gazette, a Berlin court sentenced palliative care doctor Johannes M, 41, on Wednesday for murdering 15 patients — 12 women and three men — between September 2021 and July 2024.
During sentencing, Judge Sylvia Busch said the conviction could expose even more crimes linked to the doctor.
Johannes had confessed during last month’s trial to killing his patients, telling the court he did it to spare them “suffering and infirmity.” He added, “Throughout it all, I thought this was the best thing for everyone.”
Prosecutors revealed his method: injecting patients with lethal sedatives and drug combinations without consent, then setting fires afterward to destroy evidence. In one especially chilling detail, he reportedly killed two patients in a single day in July 2024.
Investigators say they’re now digging into other cases tied to the doctor, suggesting his known victims may not be the full picture.
