The U.S. says it will continue “technical talks” with Iran despite renewed airstrikes this week and Trump’s declaration at the NATO summit that the ceasefire was “over.”
US Says Talks With Iran Will Continue Despite Renewed Strikes
A U.S. official told MS Now that Washington remains committed to a solution, calling Iran’s attacks on commercial vessels “acts of terrorism” and describing the MOU as performance-based, with Iran’s actions amounting to “failed performance.”
Trump said Iran called seeking a deal but questioned whether Tehran could be trusted to honor it. Iran, for its part, has accused the U.S. of violating the agreement.
The U.S. military struck Iran after vessel attacks in the Strait of Hormuz, and the Treasury withdrew an oil waiver. Oil prices dipped slightly Friday in Asia trading.
