Park Officials: No action against bison that sent grandfather flying at Yellowstone

Yellowstone National Park officials have confirmed the bull bison that threw tourist Carl Isom-McDaniel into the air will not be euthanized.

Yellowstone Bison Won’t Be Put Down After Viral Tourist Attack

The bison that launched a Yellowstone tourist into the air in a now-viral video is staying put — and staying alive, TMZ reports.

Park officials confirmed no “management action” will be taken against the animal following the Friday incident at Bridge Bay Campground, where 65-year-old Carl Isom-McDaniel was hurled skyward and sustained several broken bones. Isom-McDaniel is recovering.

The National Park Service recommends a minimum 75-foot distance from bison and elk, and witnesses say the victim and his grandson appeared to be at least that far away when the bull charged.

Park officials note it is currently bison mating season, when bull testosterone levels run high.
