Andy Burnham, former mayor of Greater Manchester, was asked by King Charles III to form a government after succeeding Keir Starmer as Labour leader last week, becoming the UK’s sixth PM in a decade, according to POLITICO.
In his first speech, delivered without notes, Burnham pledged swift action on living costs, a 10-year government plan, and immediate efforts to end homelessness. He has since held his first call with US President Donald Trump, as Labour bets on new leadership to close the gap with Nigel Farage’s party.
