A police pursuit of a suspected stolen vehicle in Ilford ended in a major crash that left nine people hospitalized and led to the arrest of the driver and four passengers.
Five people have been left with serious injuries and five others were arrested following a police pursuit that ended in a major crash in east London, according to Sky News.
Metropolitan Police officers attempted to stop a suspected stolen vehicle, which failed to pull over, sparking a short pursuit. The chase ended at 12:30 AM at the junction of Barley Lane and High Road in Ilford.
The London Ambulance Service treated ten patients at the scene, deploying an air ambulance and a Hazardous Area Response Team. “We treated ten patients at the scene and took nine to hospital. One person declined further aid,” LAS said in a statement.
The driver, a woman in her 20s, and four passengers aged 14 to 46 were hospitalized and arrested on suspicion of theft and dangerous driving. The junction remains closed.
