France has urged its nationals in Mali to leave immediately, citing jihadist and Tuareg separatist attacks and a dangerously unstable security environment.
France has issued an urgent warning to its citizens in Mali, calling on them to depart the West African nation without delay following a sharp deterioration in security conditions.
The French foreign ministry updated its travel guidelines on Wednesday, stating clearly: “Travel to Mali is still strongly discouraged, regardless of the reason.”
Authorities went further, advising that “French nationals are advised to make arrangements to leave Mali temporarily as soon as possible on the commercial flights that are still available.”
The warning follows weekend attacks by jihadist groups and Tuareg separatists, which have pushed the country’s security situation to what France describes as “extremely volatile.”
Mali has faced escalating instability in recent years, with armed group activity increasingly threatening civilian safety across the country.
