Iran is conditioning a ceasefire on receiving international guarantees against future Israeli and American aggression, even as the IDF continues to conduct major airstrikes against IRGC infrastructure in Tehran.
The Iranian government has reportedly demanded a formal guarantee from the United States and Israel that it will not face future attacks as a prerequisite for signing a ceasefire to end the current regional conflict. According to Bloomberg, unnamed Iranian officials indicated the regime’s primary fear is that Israeli operations against Iran will resume once the present war concludes. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian emphasized this position on social media, stating that “the only way to end the war is recognizing Iran’s legitimate rights, payment of reparations, and firm international guarantees against future aggression,” while noting he had consulted with the leaders of Russia and Pakistan.
Despite these diplomatic overtures, the Israeli Air Force launched a “wide-scale wave of strikes” Wednesday afternoon against Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) infrastructure in Tehran and across Iran, alongside operations in Beirut. The IDF reported identifying and striking operatives from the “Iranian terror regime drone array” at a launch site in Western Iran shortly after they entered the facility, signaling a continued intensification of the military campaign even as Tehran seeks security assurances.
