Iran’s parliamentary speaker has warned President Donald Trump that negotiations must be based on mutual respect and not pressure, amid rising tensions between both countries.
Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf has cautioned U.S. President Donald Trump that negotiations with Tehran are not comparable to business dealings. He stressed that governing a nation and handling international security “is not the same as managing a real estate project.”
Addressing Trump’s “Maximum Pressure” policy, Qalibaf said Iran’s sovereignty is non-negotiable and warned that economic threats would not succeed. He noted that attempts to force Tehran into concessions through pressure have failed in the past.
Qalibaf added that Iran remains open to diplomacy but only on equal terms. He said any agreement must deliver practical results, including sanctions relief, emphasizing that Iran has strengthened its domestic capacity and is better positioned to resist external pressure than before.
