Israel prohibited from ‘bombing Lebanon any longer,’ warns Trump

President Trump has prohibited further Israeli strikes in Lebanon, forcing a 10-day ceasefire that Prime Minister Netanyahu claims was accepted to facilitate a diplomatic solution after neutralizing the bulk of Hezbollah’s missile threat.

U.S. President Donald Trump issued a stern warning to Israel on Friday, declaring that the country is prohibited from “bombing Lebanon any longer.” In a post on Truth Social, Trump emphasized that the U.S. intends to work with the Lebanese government independently to resolve the “Hezbollah situation” through appropriate channels. The President’s forceful intervention comes as a 10-day ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah officially takes effect, aimed at stabilizing the region following months of intense conflict.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed that Israel accepted the truce at Trump’s request, characterizing it as a strategic opening for a historic peace agreement. Netanyahu claimed that the IDF has successfully dismantled 90% of Hezbollah’s missile stockpiles and established a robust “security buffer” along the northern border. While the Prime Minister hailed the removal of immediate infiltration threats, he clarified that Israel preserves the right to act in self-defense against any “planned, imminent, or ongoing attacks” during the cessation of hostilities.

The terms of the ceasefire, outlined by the U.S. State Department, obligate the Lebanese government to take meaningful steps to prevent “rogue non-state armed groups” from attacking Israel. Under the agreement, Lebanon’s official security forces are recognized as the sole authorized body to bear arms within the country. Despite the diplomatic progress, the Israeli opposition has expressed significant frustration over what they term a “Trump-enforced” ceasefire, even as civilians in southern Lebanon have begun attempting to return to their homes in defiance of military warnings.
