Conservative commentator Tucker Carlson has declared the defeat of Representative Thomas Massie in Kentucky’s Republican primary the “death of MAGA” and the end of the Republican Party as previously known.
Conservative commentator Tucker Carlson has sharply criticised President Trump following the primary defeat of Representative Thomas Massie in Kentucky, describing the outcome as a defining moment for American conservatism.
“It’s obviously the death of MAGA, whatever that was, but it’s also of course the end of the Republican Party as we thought we knew it,” Carlson said on his podcast.
Massie lost to Trump-backed challenger Ed Gallrein by more than nine points on Tuesday after weeks of clashing with the president over foreign policy and the Justice Department’s handling of files linked to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Carlson, a former Trump ally who has grown increasingly critical of the administration, went further, saying: “The last year has not made America great again. The last year has diminished American power at a rate some of us thought was unimaginable.”
