Amber Luke, “Australia’s most tattooed woman,” has cancelled her plans to remove her face and body ink after an AI-generated image of her natural skin left her horrified and “deeply ashamed” of her un-inked appearance.
Amber Luke, a 30-year-old Brisbane influencer known as “Australia’s most tattooed woman,” has announced she is abandoning her extensive tattoo removal journey after an AI-generated preview left her “freaked out.” Despite having already undergone seven laser sessions and spending an estimated $257,000 on body art over the years, Luke decided to halt the process after using ChatGPT to visualize her face without ink for the first time in a decade. “I absolutely hated what I saw. I f–king despised it,” Luke told NeedToKnow, adding that she realized her attempt to clear her skin was an effort to conform to societal expectations rather than her own desires. “I think, in the end, I was doing it more for everyone else’s benefit rather than my own,” she admitted.
Beyond the aesthetic shock, Luke cited ethical concerns and the physical intensity of the removal process as reasons for her reversal. She expressed discomfort regarding the origins of the stem cells she had planned to use for skin regeneration, stating, “I didn’t know if they were ethically sourced. I just felt wrong using them.” A brand ambassador for a clinic that provided her laser treatments for free, Luke notably refused numbing cream during her previous “gnarly” sessions, explaining that she wanted to feel the burning and stinging “intensely.” Her history of extreme body modification is well-documented, including a 2018 procedure to dye her eyeballs blue which left her blinded for three weeks and the recent emergency removal of ear implants that caused significant health complications.
The influencer now intends to move forward by adding new “banger” tattoos to her face to cover the areas where ink was previously removed. “There’ll be a cover-up for my old life. I will have another face tattoo done soon on the other side,” she said, indicating a renewed commitment to her modified appearance. Luke, who describes herself as having become a tattoo addict at age 16, remains undeterred by past medical scares, having recently traveled to Brazil to have her eyeballs re-inked despite the previous temporary loss of sight. She concluded that her current goal is simply to find the right designs to “fill my face” and maintain her signature look.
