Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has told CNN he opposes a potential US sale of F-35 stealth jets to Turkey, warning that such a move would “destroy the power balance in the Middle East.”

Speaking to CNN’s Dana Bash, Netanyahu described Turkey as a state “infected with the Muslim Brotherhood” under President Erdogan, adding that Erdogan “threatens to destroy my country.” Trump, currently in Turkey for the NATO summit, has signalled willingness to lift a ban he imposed on the jet sale during his first term.

Netanyahu downplayed any rift with Trump, insisting they see “eye-to-eye” on major issues. He also addressed rising settler violence in the West Bank, describing perpetrators as “juvenile delinquents” and criticising Israeli courts as too lenient.
