Harvard Professor Avi Loeb warns that an alien encounter would most likely involve an AI-controlled technological device rather than biological beings, triggering global stock market crashes, geopolitical upheaval and a profound spiritual crisis for humanity.
An alien invasion would not resemble science fiction films but would instead involve an AI-guided technological device posing grave threats to humanity, Harvard University’s Galileo Project head Professor Avi Loeb has warned.
Loeb told the Daily Mail that such an encounter would spark political, economic and spiritual chaos, saying, “the stock market may crash due to the uncertainty about the impact of the encounter on the future of humanity.”
Despite the threat, Loeb suggested the encounter could unite divided nations, saying, “An encounter with alien technology could bring together all humans on Earth in the same way that a knock on the door by a stranger quiets down arguments among family members within the room.”
He added it would deliver “a much needed sense of humility and a change of priorities towards space exploration and cooperation among humans.”
