Serena and Venus Williams have accepted a wild card invitation to play doubles together at Wimbledon, marking a highly anticipated reunion nearly four years after Serena’s retirement.
They’re back — and Wimbledon just got a whole lot more interesting.
CNN reports that the All England Club handed Serena and Venus Williams a doubles wild card for this year’s Wimbledon, starting June 29, reuniting tennis’s most iconic sisterly partnership on grass.
At 44, Serena only recently returned to professional tennis after a four-year absence, while Venus turns 46 on Wednesday. Together, they’ve won 14 grand slam doubles titles — six of them at Wimbledon, their first two also coming as wild cards back in 2000 and 2002.
Their last doubles appearance together was the 2022 US Open, where they lost in the opening round.
