President Donald Trump’s ambitious Board of Peace is facing growing scrutiny as questions swirl over its funding and the future of its Gaza reconstruction plan.
According to The Hill, the board has collected only hundreds of millions of dollars despite earlier announcements of more than $17 billion in pledges. Lawmakers are also demanding greater transparency about where donations are being held and how the funds will be used.
Meanwhile, progress on rebuilding Gaza remains largely frozen. A major obstacle is Hamas’ refusal to fully disarm, a condition Israel insists must be met before reconstruction can move ahead.
The project has also been hampered by regional tensions, political disagreements and uncertainty over who will govern Gaza after the war.
For now, Trump’s flagship peace initiative remains big on promises but short on progress. :::
