UAE intercepts Iranian missiles and drones over Dubai

The UAE says it intercepted Iranian missiles and drones targeting its territory, though debris from the attack injured three civilians amid rising Gulf tensions.

The United Arab Emirates said its air defence systems intercepted two ballistic missiles and three drones launched from Iran during a major aerial attack on Friday.

According to the UAE Ministry of Defence, the interceptions prevented wider destruction, though falling debris reportedly injured three civilians. Witnesses said loud explosions were heard across parts of Dubai as interceptors engaged incoming threats.

Officials described the attack as a serious escalation in regional tensions linked to the ongoing conflict involving Iran, the United States and its Gulf allies. The UAE condemned what it called “terrorist behavior” and reaffirmed its right to defend its sovereignty.

Authorities said emergency teams were deployed to affected areas while Abu Dhabi continued security coordination with the United States and regional partners amid fears of further attacks in the Gulf.
