UAE warns Iran cannot be trusted over Strait of Hormuz as peace efforts stall

The UAE has declared Iran untrustworthy over the Strait of Hormuz as peace efforts stall, oil prices surge, and President Trump faces a congressional deadline to end the two-month conflict.

Efforts to end the Iran war remain at a dangerous impasse, with the UAE warning that Tehran cannot be trusted over any arrangements involving the Strait of Hormuz — the vital waterway still largely closed after two months of conflict.

UAE presidential adviser Anwar Gargash declared that “no unilateral Iranian arrangements can be trusted or relied upon following its treacherous aggression against all its neighbors,” as global oil prices surged to four-year highs.

Iran has activated air defences amid reports Trump is weighing fresh military strikes. An Iranian Revolutionary Guards official warned any new U.S. attack would trigger “long and painful strikes” on American regional positions.

Trump faces a formal congressional deadline Friday to end the war, with Brent crude trading above $111 a barrel.
