President Trump says the US will continue talks with Iran but insists the April 8 ceasefire between the two countries is over, as both sides exchange fire.
Trump: Iran Ceasefire “Over,” But Talks to Continue
Donald Trump is keeping the door open for diplomacy — just not a truce. “Iran has asked us to continue ‘talks.’ We have agreed to do so, but the United States has stated to them, in no uncertain terms, that the Cease Fire is OVER!” Trump posted on Truth Social Friday.
Earlier this week in Ankara, he called Iranian officials “scum” and “sick people,” declaring the April 8 ceasefire dead after weeks of low-intensity conflict, Vanguard reports. He said negotiators Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner remain in contact with Tehran, though he insists it’s on Iran to return to the table. The two sides have traded strikes on ships, military assets, and drones this week.
