An official Congressional Research Service report reveals that the United States has lost or damaged at least 42 military aircraft, including advanced fighter jets and drones, during its military campaign in Iran.
At least 42 United States military aircraft, including fighter jets and 24 MQ-9 Reaper drones, have been lost or damaged during the war in Iran, according to an unclassified Congressional Research Service (CRS) report. The Pentagon revealed that the financial toll of Operation Epic Fury has reached nearly $29 billion.
According to NDTV, the document compiled data from military statements to track losses, which include a premier F-35A stealth fighter, F-15Es, and aerial refuelers. Pentagon finance chief Jules Hurst III explained the budget surge at a congressional hearing: “A lot of that increase comes from having a refined estimate on repair or replacement costs for equipment.”
Sharing the report publicly, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi claimed their forces were the first to down an F-35, warning that a resumption of war would bring “many more surprises.”
