The IDF has entered southern Lebanon to seize strategic high-ground positions, expanding its operation to create a buffer against Hezbollah attacks on Israeli border communities.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has deployed ground troops into southern Lebanon, seizing dominant high-ground positions near the border as part of its ongoing Operation “Roaring Lion.” The move marks a shift from fixed defensive outposts to a more offensive posture aimed at preventing attacks by Hezbollah on Israeli border communities. Defence Minister Israel Katz said the action was authorised alongside Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to secure the Galilee region and push the frontline further from Israeli towns.
Military sources said troops are currently operating within the immediate security zone along the Blue Line, focusing on neutralising threats and denying Hezbollah direct line-of-sight for attacks. The development follows reported movements by Hezbollah’s Radwan forces near the border, while evacuation warnings have been issued to residents of several Lebanese villages as tensions continue to escalate.
