A Welsh court has confiscated more than £20,000 from the bank accounts of long-term FBI fugitive Daniel Andreas San Diego following his arrest in rural Wales for 2003 bombings in California.
A North Wales court has ordered the forfeiture of over £20,000 from frozen bank accounts belonging to Daniel Andreas San Diego, 47, an FBI “most wanted” fugitive captured in November 2024 after 21 years on the run. San Diego, described by the FBI as an “animal rights extremist” and the first American-born alleged terrorist on the most wanted list, was discovered living under the alias Danny Webb in a rural Welsh cottage following two 2003 bombings in San Francisco linked to the Animal Liberation Brigade.
Although San Diego initially contested the seizure and unsuccessfully fought extradition by citing alleged political interference in the U.S. justice system, his legal challenge to the asset forfeiture was dropped during today’s hearing at Llandudno court. The Animal Liberation Brigade had previously warned of an “endgame for the animal killers,” but FBI Director Christopher Wray emphasized that “Daniel San Diego’s arrest after more than 20 years… shows that no matter how long it takes, the FBI will find you and hold you accountable.”
