President Donald Trump has pushed back against reports that Iran suspended negotiations with the United States, insisting talks remain active despite rising tensions in the Middle East, The Hill report.
Speaking on Monday, Trump said Tehran never officially informed Washington of any decision to halt discussions and maintained that negotiations were continuing “at a rapid pace.” The dispute follows Iran’s accusation that the US violated a ceasefire through Israel’s military actions against Hezbollah in Lebanon.
Tehran responded by saying it would keep the Strait of Hormuz closed and stop exchanging messages with Washington. Trump, however, appeared unfazed, saying dialogue could continue while stressing that the US was not preparing for military escalation.
