Judge Eleanor Ross privately reprimanded after an investigation found she engaged in sexual relationship with an Atlanta police officer inside courthouse chambers during working hours, report by Peoples Gazette.
The conduct reportedly spanned about two years and prompted a judicial conduct probe that reviewed allegations raised by a law clerk. While the findings did not lead to public disciplinary removal, the Eleventh Circuit committee issued a confidential reprimand, citing concerns over workplace professionalism and ethics.
Ross, appointed in 2014 by former President Barack Obama and serving in the Northern District of Georgia, was also directed to write apology letters to affected clerks and step away from leadership roles within the judiciary. Both Ross and the officer involved did not respond to requests for comment. The case has stirred debate over judicial accountability and courtroom conduct standards, raising questions about ethics, power, and discipline in federal courts.
