Trump administration ramps up Ebola screening, travel restrictions

The Trump administration is stepping up its Ebola response as fears grow over the fast-moving outbreak in Central Africa. New measures include tighter airport screening, expanded monitoring of travelers, and temporary restrictions targeting high-risk regions, according to reporting by The Hill.

Officials say the goal is simple: stop Ebola from reaching American soil. Enhanced checks are already underway at major entry points, especially for travelers arriving from affected countries like the Democratic Republic of Congo and neighboring areas.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio stressed the urgency, saying the administration’s “objective number one is to make sure Ebola never reaches the United States.”

The outbreak has already infected hundreds and triggered fresh global health concerns. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is also coordinating with international partners while reviewing emergency preparedness plans.

Critics, however, warn that travel crackdowns and deportation pauses tied to the outbreak could create diplomatic and humanitarian tensions. Still, the White House appears determined to show an aggressive response as pressure mounts over global health security.
