FBI arrests Minnesota fraudster who jumped from fourth-floor balcony to escape custody

A Minnesota fraud suspect who dramatically leapt from a fourth-floor balcony to flee federal agents has been arrested, FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed, as part of a sweeping healthcare fraud operation that resulted in charges against 15 individuals involving over $90 million in losses.

A Minnesota man who jumped from a fourth-floor balcony to escape federal agents during a morning fraud operation has been arrested, FBI Director Kash Patel announced on Thursday evening.

The suspect, Muhammad Omar, was a target in a healthcare fraud investigation involving a Housing Stabilization Services company that filed fraudulent claims for services never provided, diverting proceeds for personal benefit.

“After today’s interagency press conference announcing 15 public healthcare fraud indictments in Minnesota, the below subject who was on the run — Muhammad Omar — has now been arrested,” Patel wrote.

FBI Deputy Director Christopher Raia had earlier appealed to the public for help locating Omar after he fled, noting the suspect was seen limping in surveillance footage following his fall.

The arrest came during a wider operation in which officials announced charges against 15 individuals across seven state-managed Medicaid programmes, which were described as being “systematically pilfered by fraudsters” who treated taxpayer funds as “their personal piggy bank,” resulting in over $90 million in losses.
