Iran proposed reopening the Strait of Hormuz and delaying nuclear negotiations as part of a peace framework, but Trump rejected the offer, saying the terms were unacceptable.
Iran offered a deal that would reopen the Strait of Hormuz and push nuclear negotiations to a later stage — but President Trump turned it down.
A senior Iranian official told Reuters the framework would end the war and lift the US naval blockade, with Tehran explaining: “negotiations over the more complicated nuclear issue have been moved to the final stage to create a more conducive atmosphere.”
Trump was unmoved. “They’re asking for things that I can’t agree to,” he told reporters at the White House.
The rejection comes four weeks after the US and Israel paused strikes on Iran, with global energy supplies still under significant strain and no peace agreement in sight.
