U.S. bans entry for non-citizens who visited these three countries

The CDC has implemented a 30-day Title 42 travel ban on Uganda, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and South Sudan following a deadly Ebola outbreak that has infected an American physician.

President Donald Trump has implemented a new 30-day travel ban targeting Uganda, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and South Sudan following an Ebola virus outbreak, according to Yahoo Finance.

Invoking Title 42 for public health enforcement, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) barred non-citizens who visited these nations within 21 days from entering the U.S. The restriction follows broader Africa-focused travel curbs enacted during Trump’s second term.

The Bundibugyo strain outbreak has caused 131 deaths in Congo and reached Uganda. At least one American missionary physician has tested positive.

“We are doing this to ensure that they are at the level of care that they can receive the either treatment or observation that that’s required,” Satish Pillai, CDC’s Ebola response manager, said to reporters on May 18.

The CDC noted the immediate risk to Americans remains low, adding it “may adjust public health measures as additional information becomes available.”
