Jack Schlossberg’s first run for public office has ended in disappointment, with the Kennedy family heir finishing third in the Democratic primary for New York’s 12th Congressional District.
Schlossberg, the grandson of former President John F. Kennedy and son of Caroline Kennedy, failed to convert his famous surname and large social media following into votes. State lawmakers Micah Lasher and Alex Bores both secured more than 30 percent of the vote, while Schlossberg received less than 11 percent.
The 33-year-old entered the race after veteran Congressman Jerry Nadler announced his retirement. Throughout the campaign, Schlossberg positioned himself as a fresh political voice and rejected political action committee funding.
According to Daily Mail, voters ultimately favoured candidates with established legislative experience, delivering a significant setback to a member of one of America’s most famous political dynasties.
